Make a solar projector at home to view the solar eclipse

If you do not have eclipse glasses to keep your eyes safe while looking at Monday’s solar eclipse

you can make your own solar projector with items that you probably have already.

With a solar projector, you can actually look at an image of the sun, according to Dr. Mohi Saki, an assistant professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Tape a white sheet of paper to the inside of one side of a box, like a shoe box or cereal box

– Cut two square holes on the other side of the box, preferably on each quarter.

– Tape a piece of aluminum foil to the outside of one of the square holes.

To use it, you’ll point the side with the square holes towards the sun and look through the uncovered square hole.

An image of the sun will project onto the white sheet of paper so you can see it.
