Sally Buzbee Resigns as Washington Post Executive Editor

Sally Buzbee has resigned as the executive editor of The Washington Post.

Buzbee served as the executive editor for three years, starting in May 2021.

Matt Murray, former editor-in-chief of The Wall Street Journal, will temporarily replace her.

Robert Winnett, deputy editor of Telegraph Media Group, will take over after the presidential election.

No specific reason was given for Buzbee’s departure from the role.

The Washington Post announced a new newsroom division aimed at different audience engagement.

Buzbee was the first woman to lead The Washington Post’s newsroom.

The Post has faced financial difficulties, including a loss of $77 million last year.

Publisher Will Lewis is implementing new strategies to improve the newspaper’s financial health.
