Matt Ryan has concluded his illustrious NFL career, officially retiring by signing a one-day contract to end his journey as a Falcon, the team he largely represented throughout his career from 2008 to 2022. At 38 years old, he reflected on a career that started when he was just 22, having been drafted by Atlanta from Boston College as the third overall pick.

Ryan’s tenure with the Falcons was marked by immediate impact, starting every game in his debut season and taking his team to the playoffs. His last season wearing the Falcons’ colors was in 2021, finishing with a record of 7-10. Over his 14 years at Atlanta, Ryan had an impressive starting record in 222 out of 225 regular-season games, leading the team to six playoff appearances and a Super Bowl run in 2016, despite not clinching the championship.
